DESTINY COMMUNITY CHURCH SOW MINISTRY
Help With Hunger By Donating Today!
STRANGERS. ORPHANS. WIDOWS
Together we can reach the Kingdom, the Community, and the Nations
Destiny Community Church aims to share the gospel of Jesus and lead our neighbors toward Christ by sowing kindness and sharing the message of hope. Our SOW Ministry was established in response to this desire.
Our vision is to be a beacon of hope to those who may have lost hope in humanity through the adversities of life.
Beth’s Food Pantry was born from this vision. We strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment where individuals and families can find not only nourishment but also compassion and understanding. By offering essential resources and a helping hand, we aim to restore dignity and inspire renewal, reminding our community that they are not alone and that brighter days are ahead.
We need your help to fulfill our mission. Your generosity, whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word about Beth’s Food Pantry, can make a profound difference in the lives of those facing hardship. Together, we can provide nourishment, hope, and a sense of belonging to our neighbors in need, ensuring that no one has to face adversity alone.
Join us as we work to restore dignity and inspire renewal in our community, one act of kindness at a time. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps create a ripple effect of hope and positive change.
Help Us Make a Difference
1 in 7 families in our community lacks enough food to live an active, healthy life. Together, we can change that reality for our neighbors.
Hunger is a significant issue in Lexington, KY, with many organizations providing free meals and groceries (produce, staples, hot meals) to residents.
Hunger in Lexington, Kentucky, remains a critical issue as of 2026, with approximately 1 in 7 people in Kentucky facing food insecurity.
Kentucky has a poverty rate of 14.9%, while Fayette County comes in at 15.8%, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Hunger is a heartbreaking reality for so many of our neighbors at large.
The church can significantly impact food insecurity through direct aid like food pantries, community gardens, and meal programs, while also fostering dignity and community.
Therefore, Destiny Community Church is attempting to serve our community by providing food to address growing levels of food insecurity in our neighborhood and surrounding areas.
Lexington also faces a growing homelessness crisis, with recent counts showing around 925 people experiencing homelessness in 2025, a significant increase from previous years.
Many people in Lexington are experiencing “literal homelessness,” according to Lexington’s annual point-in-time survey conducted in late January, which means they’re living in emergency shelters or on the streets.
The survey does not include other facets of homelessness, like people couch-hopping or living in hotels.
The need is not hypothetical. It is real, it is immediate, and it is growing.
The church can make a significant difference in addressing homelessness by providing immediate needs (shelter, food, clothing), offering long-term support (job training, counseling, community), advocating for systemic change, and fostering dignity and connection.
COATS FOR WINTER
SOW Ministry now accepts gently used winter coats, hats, and gloves for its winter project. By donating these much-needed items, you can help keep our neighbors warm and safe during the colder months.
By donating these much-needed items, you can help keep our neighbors warm and safe during the colder months. Your kindness ensures that individuals and families facing hardship are not left out in the cold, but instead feel the warmth of a caring community.
Each coat, hat, and pair of gloves you give provides not only physical comfort but also a reminder that no one is forgotten. With your support, we can bring hope and dignity to those in need, making this winter a little brighter for everyone.
Please consider joining our efforts by dropping off your gently used winter wear at Destiny Community Church. Together, we can make a meaningful impact, ensuring that everyone in our community feels cared for and supported during the season.
