Give & Take: Relationship 101

Relationships are likely the most rewarding and challenging parts of our lives.  I personally believe that God has seeded the most important things in life into relationships and getting the "goods" from God requires our investment in and stewarding of them. I know this thought runs contrary to our self-absorbed culture and the "me-first" mentality, but if someone told me they hid $1million inside of a parked car ...

The Importance of Relationships

We were made for relationships. From the beginning of time, God has made relationships a priority. He longs for a relationship with each one of His children. No matter the cost. He seeks us out for a relationship with Him. He also makes it clear in His word that it is important to be in relationships with each other. The bible is full of wisdom and helpful direction on how to navigate ...

A New Way to Think About Love

Relationship is a two way street.  It is the conversation and interaction between two people. The closer we grow together, the different the dynamics of the relationship become. When I love someone it naturally affects the way I treat them, think about them, respond to them and talk about them.  Love really changes everything. It has the power to give me the ability to see the other person  though rose colored glasses.  You know those glasses that make the other person look, beautiful, skinny and flawless regardless of the facts.  My lenses becomes ...

Got a Question for You

Have you ever asked God questions?  I believe He actually loves answering questions.  Conversations are constructed out of questions and answers.  Have you ever had lunch with someone and felt like the conversation was work?  You know, you ask a question and get a “yes” or “no” answer.  Sometimes, we would prefer God to answer us in a simple “yes” or “no” but instead He often answers our questions with a question.  Why would He do that to us?  Because you are the object of His greatest affection and He wants to spend more time with you than would be involved if He just said, “yes” or “no” and He is not interested in just giving us orders or directing us as one of His loyal subjects ...

Think on These Things

When David was a shepherd boy watching over his father’s sheep he was faced with situations where God revealed his warrior heart. You have heard many times the stories of David killing the lion and the bear (1 Samuel 17:34-35). God began training David from his earliest years. It was in God’s heart for David to lead the armies of Israel and to conquer their enemies and thusly, King David became known as a mighty warrior.

God taught David to commune with Him, to hear His voice and to be acquainted with His supernatural power before he faced the enemy. It was after learning to trust God working through him to kill the lion and the bear that he confidently faced a new situation: Goliath taunting the armies of Israel...

Being a Joint that Supplies

Destiny Community Church has emphasized the importance of family and community relationships from its beginning. When Tim and Dawn became pastors that emphasis was taken to a new level. The renewed focus was and continues to be a very good thing.

Jim and I have participated in church life in many different locations around the country and abroad. Unfortunately, only on rare occasions did we see what we considered true New Testament Church lived out. Since we can only walk in what God is revealing, perhaps our experience ...

The Power of Love

"Love is a beautiful thing". I think someone wrote a song about that.  Isn't it amazing that God built the foundation of His kingdom on that very thing - love. He didn't choose power or intellect or stature. Everything He created and does comes from the motivation of a burning heart of love.  That is an amazing thought itself, but grab ahold of this one, you are the one He loves!

Psalms tells us ...
